The Communication Services Select Sector SPDR Fund ETF (XLC) is seeing unusually high volume in afternoon trading Monday, with over 3.3 million shares traded versus three month average volume of about 603,000. Shares of XLC were off about 0.1% on the day.

In trading on Monday, the iShares US Oil & Gas Exploration & Production ETF (IEO) is outperforming other ETFs, up about 2.2% on the day. Components of that ETF showing particular strength include shares of California Resources (CRC), up about 17.4% and shares of Denbury Resources (DNR), up about 9.5% on the day.

Looking at units outstanding versus one week prior within the universe of ETFs covered at ETF Channel, the biggest outflow was seen in the iShares US Treasury Bond ETF (GOVT), where 4,000,000 units were destroyed, or a 1.5% decrease week over week. And on a percentage change basis, the ETF with the biggest outflow was the First Trust Nasdaq Transportation ETF (FTXR), which lost 50,000 of its units, representing a 33.3% decline in outstanding units compared to the week prior.

Comparing units outstanding versus one week ago at the coverage universe of ETFs at ETF Channel, the biggest inflow was seen in the SPDR S&P 500 ETF (SPY), which added 38,450,000 units, or a 4.1% increase week over week. Among the largest underlying components of SPY, in morning trading today Apple (AAPL) is trading flat, and Microsoft Corporation (MSFT) is lower by about 0.4%.

In trading on Friday, the iShares Latin America 40 ETF (ILF) is outperforming other ETFs, up about 1.5% on the day. Components of that ETF showing particular strength include shares of CIG (CIG), up about 4.6% and shares of Vale (VALE), up about 3.5% on the day.

Looking at units outstanding versus one week prior within the universe of ETFs covered at ETF Channel, the biggest outflow was seen in the iShares iBoxx $ High Yield Corporate Bond ETF, where 6,800,000 units were destroyed, or a 3.6% decrease week over week. And on a percentage change basis, the ETF with the biggest outflow was the ProShares ProShares S&P 500 Ex-Technology ETF, which lost 25,000 of its units, representing a 33.3% decline in outstanding units compared to the week prior.
