The First Trust North American Energy Infrastructure Fund ETF (EMLP) is seeing unusually high volume in afternoon trading Thursday, with over 1.4 million shares traded versus three month average volume of about 424,000. Shares of EMLP were up about 2.6% on the day.

In trading on Thursday, the MLP ETF (MLPA) is outperforming other ETFs, up about 3% on the day. Components of that ETF showing particular strength include shares of TC Pipelines (TCP), up about 27.9% and shares of Enbridge Energy L.

Looking at units outstanding versus one week prior within the universe of ETFs covered at ETF Channel, the biggest outflow was seen in the iShares MSCI Japan ETF (EWJ), where 9,000,000 units were destroyed, or a 2.9% decrease week over week. And on a percentage change basis, the ETF with the biggest outflow was the Invesco DB US Dollar Index Bearish Fund (UDN), which lost 600,000 of its units, representing a 27.3% decline in outstanding units compared to the week prior.

Comparing units outstanding versus one week ago at the coverage universe of ETFs at ETF Channel, the biggest inflow was seen in the iShares MSCI Europe Financials ETF (EUFN), which added 10,600,000 units, or a 14.9% increase week over week. And on a percentage change basis, the ETF with the biggest increase in inflows was the SPDR Gold MiniShares Trust (GLDM), which added 1,400,000 units, for a 32.6% increase in outstanding units.

The iShares MSCI EM ESG Optimized ETF (ESGE) is seeing unusually high volume in afternoon trading Wednesday, with over 446,000 shares traded versus three month average volume of about 45,000. Shares of ESGE were off about 0.8% on the day.

In trading on Wednesday, the MLP ETF (MLPA) is outperforming other ETFs, up about 2.4% on the day. Components of that ETF showing particular strength include shares of Mplx (MPLX), up about 3.7% and shares of EQT Midstream Partners (EQM), up about 3.4% on the day.

Looking at units outstanding versus one week prior within the universe of ETFs covered at ETF Channel, the biggest outflow was seen in the Utilities Select Sector SPDR Fund (XLU), where 9,050,000 units were destroyed, or a 5.9% decrease week over week. Among the largest underlying components of XLU, in morning trading today Nextera Energy (NEE) is off about 0.1%, and Duke Energy Corporation Holding Company (DUK) is lower by about 0.1%.

Comparing units outstanding versus one week ago at the coverage universe of ETFs at ETF Channel, the biggest inflow was seen in the iShares Short Maturity Bond ETF (NEAR), which added 10,300,000 units, or a 13.1% increase week over week. And on a percentage change basis, the ETF with the biggest increase in inflows was the iBonds Dec 2024 Term Muni Bond ETF (IBMM), which added 100,000 units, for a 33.3% increase in outstanding units.

The iShares S&P Mid-Cap 400 Value ETF (IJJ) is seeing unusually high volume in afternoon trading Tuesday, with over 229,000 shares traded versus three month average volume of about 83,000. Shares of IJJ were up about 0.3% on the day.

In trading on Tuesday, the iShares US Home Construction ETF (ITB) is outperforming other ETFs, up about 2.2% on the day. Components of that ETF showing particular strength include shares of Installed Building Products (IBP), up about 4% and shares of Hovnanian Enterprises (HOV), up about 3.9% on the day.
