The Vanguard Mid-Cap ETF is seeing unusually high volume in afternoon trading Wednesday, with over 2.0 million shares traded versus three month average volume of about 397,000. Shares of VO were up about 1% on the day.

In trading on Wednesday, the SPDR S&P Metals & Mining ETF is outperforming other ETFs, up about 3.2% on the day. Components of that ETF showing particular strength include shares of Timkensteel, up about 7.4% and shares of Allegheny Technologies, up about 6.7% on the day.

Looking at units outstanding versus one week prior within the universe of ETFs covered at ETF Channel, the biggest outflow was seen in the PowerShares DB Energy Fund, where 3,999,960 units were destroyed, or a 31.7% decrease week over week. Among the largest underlying components of DBE, in morning trading today Powershares Exchange Traded Fund is trading flat.

Comparing units outstanding versus one week ago at the coverage universe of ETFs at ETF Channel, the biggest inflow was seen in the Vanguard FTSE Emerging Markets ETF, which added 9,602,356 units, or a 0.7% increase week over week. Among the largest underlying components of VWO, in morning trading today Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing is down about 0.2%, and China Mobile Hong Kong is lower by about 0.2%.

The First Trust NASDAQ-100 Equal Weighted Index Fund ETF (QQEW) is seeing unusually high volume in afternoon trading Tuesday, with over 247,000 shares traded versus three month average volume of about 65,000. Shares of QQEW were down about 1% on the day.

In trading on Tuesday, the SPDR S&P Bank ETF (KBE) is outperforming other ETFs, up about 1.3% on the day. Components of that ETF showing particular strength include shares of Bank of America (BAC), up about 2.9% and shares of Signature Bank (SBNY), up about 2.5% on the day.

Looking at units outstanding versus one week prior within the universe of ETFs covered at ETF Channel, the biggest outflow was seen in the PowerShares S&P 500 Quality Portfolio (SPHQ), where 16,000,000 units were destroyed, or a 26.3% decrease week over week. Among the largest underlying components of SPHQ, in morning trading today General Electric Company (GE) is down about 0.9%, and 3M Company (MMM) is lower by about 0.6%.

Among the largest underlying components of XOP, in morning trading today Rice Energy (RICE) is up about 0.2%, and Conocophillips (COP) is higher by about 0.2%.

The iShares Russell Top 200 Growth ETF (IWY) is seeing unusually high volume in afternoon trading Monday, with over 289,000 shares traded versus three month average volume of about 49,000. Shares of IWY were down about 0.2% on the day.
